Summary. (5 points) Identify and summarize three (3) of the author’s main points? This could be reflected by exploring themes and/or concepts from the readings.
Key Points. (10 points) Identify and discuss three (3) of the most thought-provoking ideas/issues you found in your reading of Soyer’s book. Your reply cannot be a duplicate of any part of your response to #1.
Application. (20 points) Provide two examples of how Soyer’s research links theory back to peoples lived reality by applying two different theories studied in class to two of the young men in her book. The two theories must come from different sections:
Section VI – Social structure/strain
Section VII – Cultural/subcultural
Section VIII – Social process/social learning
Section IX – Social reaction/critical
*Before you apply the theory make sure to provide an overview of the theory and its concepts.
Conclusion. (5 points) Write a short conclusion that includes your opinion of the book and whether you would recommend this book to students studying criminology. Your recommendation must be accompanied by a rationale.
