Design a psychological experiment to investigate one of the following claims. Be sure to designate your independent and dependent variable(s), as well as variables to be ‘controlled’ (do you need to include a comparison or ‘control’ group?) – choose among the following hypotheses: you are simply proposing how you would go about testing one of these statements NOT the collection of data so there is no need to speak of actual findings. Your essay should, in other words, propose a design for investigating one of the following hypotheses, specifying the measurement tools you will rely on, and why you have chosen these tools? And the results you expect or hope for. In other words, write an Introduction and a Method section only, not the Results or Discussion. But build a rationale in your introduction for the hypotheses (questions) you intend your proposal to address. The final paragraph of every introduction restates the study aims or hypotheses. Be sure to review past research in the area so you are clear about either replicating past work or testing a novel set of questions, based on prior theory and findings. Your seminar leader will be your guide.
