ESSAY ASSIGNMENT # 3
For the past two weeks, we have been discussing different elements about what we deal with living in these modern times. The following questions ask you to dig deeper into the topics that we have read or seen videos about. For this essay, you need to choose one of the questions below. You are welcome to use any of the readings and films we have all ready read or seen, but you also need to have at least three new resources you found through research. Your paper needs to be double-spaced, titled, and with your name on it. Make sure your pages are numbered. It should be 4 – 6 pages in length. You will also need to use the MLA format for your Works Cited page and for any in-text citations you have. The Little Seagull Handbook has a very good section on the MLA in it, and the TMCC library webpage also has information. I highly suggest that you take a good look at the sample essay in your handbook. It will help you to see what you are aiming for. Select only one question to answer.
1. We spent some time talking about the Flappers and Hippies but what about the other countercultures, such as The Grunge Movement? Select one of them and talk about them in terms of challenges and contributions to our history and culture. Be sure to use lots of examples to prove you points.
2. Many of the authors we have read the past few weeks used primary resources and/or voices of authority to prove their thesis. Select one of the following themes, choose one particular element about it, formulate your thesis, and find at least three primary resources or voices of authority to support what you are saying in your thesis.

Analyze a political leader of your choice (He/she can be historic or current.)
3. We have talked about the good, bad, and ugly sides of social media, but what about all the good technology that’s out there? Chose one positive technological advancement, define it, and discuss how it has had a positive effect on us.
