An argumentative essay in response to the prompt below.
The fight of the colonists to gain independence from
England is documented in the literature from this time period. Much of the writing is autobiographical and takes the form of speeches, narratives, and pamphlets. Unit I, Writing Freedom, includes Selections that capture the colonists’ voices for freedom, speeches that extol the nation’s founding ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and literary works that
describe the slave trade that contradicted the colonists’ fight for freedom.
