Reflection- Watch each video and briefly summarize it by answering the following questions: What did you already know? What did you learn? What surprised/puzzled you? How do the videos and what you learned in class connect? Were the arts integrated into the lesson? If not, how could the arts be integrated into the lesson? What questions do you have? What do you want to learn more about? (2-3 pages)
Here are some guiding questions:
1. How did the teacher initially engage the children’s attention? Was the technique effective?
2. What connections did the teacher make between the focus of the lesson and other activities/studies that had been previously covered in the classroom up until that point? Was a genuine connection made?
3. What were the teacher’s goals and objectives for the lesson? What did he/she want students to know/understand by the end of the lesson? How do you know?
4. What materials did the teacher use? Were they appropriate to the task?
5. How were students grouped during the instruction? Did the grouping change during the lesson?
6. How did the teacher present the material to the students? What kind of interaction was there between the teacher and students? How engaged were students in the process?
7. How did the teacher make accommodations/differentiate instruction for the struggling students in the classroom? How do you know?
8. How much critical and/or creative thinking were students doing during the lesson? What is the evidence?
9. How did the teacher assess children’s understanding? How well did the assessment measure whether the lesson objectives had been met for each child?
